Frank TERNIER est réalisateur, monteur et graphiste français. C’est un autodidacte, curieux et instinctif.
Ses nombreuses rencontres et collaborations dans des domaines et univers artistiques variés, du théâtre contemporain aux danses urbaines et classiques, au monde des musiques amplifiées, en font un artiste mixed media.
L’histoire commence à Tours en 1999 avec la création de l’association l’Astronef qui a pour vocation de promouvoir l’éducation à l’image. Frank y rencontre d’autres réalisateurs, des techniciens, des comédiens avec lesquels il travaillera régulièrement.
Il commence des coréalisations La perle fendue, We come in peace, avant de réaliser en 2010 son premier court métrage d’animation Le di@ble en bouche, qui reçoit une mention spéciale au Festival national du film d’animation de l’AFCA.
La même année, avec d’autres passionnéEs, il fonde le collectif Ideal Crash : Frédéric Duzan, Camille Trophème, Laurent Moulin, Vanessa Aillaume… chacunEs ayant des compétences bien spécifiques. C’est avec elles/eux qu’il réalisera ses prochaines créations.

En recherche d’expérimentations et de nouveaux langages cinématographiques, il réalise son deuxième film d’animation : 8 balles, qui raconte la quête obsessionnelle d’un père suite à un drame familial. Ce film est sélectionné en 2014 à Cannes à la Quinzaine des Réalisateurs, au TIFF de Toronto, et remarqué dans plus de 100 festivals internationaux.
En paralèlle, Frank continue à transmettre ses connaissances et partager avec les jeunes son goût pour le cinéma. La dynamique du collectif Ideal Crash le conduit à expérimenter un premier mapping vidéo et participe au Chartres Video Mapping Contest, puis un deuxième mapping intitulé Raw qui fera l’ouverture du Video Mapping Festival de Lille 2019.
Six Pieds sur Terre Production lui confie ensuite la réalisation de la saison 3 des Chroniques du Professeur Feuillage pour France Télévisions.
Riot, son troisième film d’animation, produit par L’image d’après et Arte France, nous parle de colère sociale mélant danse, dessin et collage. Ce film se fait d’abord remarquer à l’OIAF, puis à l’Interfilm de Berlin, Zinebi, Leuven, et dans de nombreux festivals à travers le monde.
Son dernier film Muted, fable expérimentale sur fond de dérèglement du monde, sortira fin 2020.

Toujours en quête d’expérimentations et de nouveaux défis, Frank travaille actuellement sur différents projets : L’ombre quantique dans le cadre de la résidence artistique à l’université de Tours, Retour vers nos futurs, genre de documentaire expérimental et musical en collaboration avec Frédéric Duzan, et son prochain film d’animation Anton, ou les turpitudes d’un adolescent en quête de sens et de monde plus juste.

The story begins in Tours in 1999 with the creation of the association l'Astronef which aims to promote image education. Frank meets other directors, technicians, actors with whom he regularly works.
He starts some co-productions The cracked pearl, We come in peace, before directing in 2010 his first animation short film Swallowing the Devil, which receives a special mention at the AFCA National Animation Film Festival.

The same year, with other passionate persons, he founds the Ideal Crash collective : Frédéric Duzan, Camille Trophème, Laurent Moulin, Vanessa Aillaume… each with very specific skills. With them he will make his next creations.
In search of experimentation and new cinematographic languages, he makes a second animation film : 8 bullets, which is about of a father's obsessive quest following a family drama. This film is selected in 2014 at the Directors' Fortnight of Cannes, at TIFF in Toronto, and noticed in more than 100 international festivals.

In parallel, Frank continues to transmit his knowledge and share with young people his passion for cinema. The dynamics of the Ideal Crash collective leads him to experiment with a first video mapping and participate in the Chartres Video Mapping Contest, then a second mapping entitled Raw which will open the Video Mapping Festival of Lille 2019.

Always looking for experiments and new challenges, Frank is currently working on different projects : The quantum shadow because of he is the artist in residence at the University of Tours, Back to our futures, a kind of experimental and musical documentary in collaboration with Frédéric Duzan, and his next animated film Anton, or the turpitude of a teenager looking for the meaning o life and a fairer world.
